The hotel was in a great location, right in the heart of town! This made it really convenient to explore the surrounding area and visit nearby shops and restaurants. the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They even offered us a complimentary bottle of wine upon arrival, which was a lovely touch. the room was spacious and clean, and the four-poster bed added a touch of elegance. Plus, the breakfast was delicious with a good variety of options to choose from.
The hotel didn't have an elevator, so if you have mobility issues or heavy luggage, it can be a bit of a challenge to get up to the second floor. the shower temperature fluctuated, which was a bit annoying.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The massive four poster bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bedding was top-notch. The hotel staff went above and beyond to make our stay special, with a bottle of red wine in the room and even arranging champagne and a birthday cake for a surprise celebration. The manager, Nicci, was exceptionally polite and helpful, providing great recommendations for things to do in the area. The food at the hotel was outstanding, and we loved the warm and traditional decor throughout. The hotel's proximity to the town center and its charming pubs was a definite plus.
Absolutely nothing.

We had a lovely visit to this hotel, situated in a great location for exploring the Peak District. the room had a really comfortable bed and a clean, if slightly tired, bathroom. the owner was attentive, chatty, and helpful, making sure we enjoyed our stay. the breakfast was made fresh to order and one of the best we've had at a hotel. the hotel is also conveniently located in the centre of Ashbourne, with easy access to the Bowling Green pub for a meal on Friday night and a fantastic Thai restaurant.
The decor in the hotel was a bit dated, but it added to the charm of the old building.

This hotel exceeded our expectations in so many ways. the value for money was excellent - we couldn't believe how affordable our stay was compared to other options in the area. Secondly, the attention to detail was impressive. The room itself was beautifully decorated, with a four-poster bed and a comfortable mattress that ensured a restful sleep. We also appreciated the extra little touches, like the dressing gowns laid out on the bed. Lastly, the breakfast was outstanding, with super bacon and lovely fresh scrambled eggs that tasted like they were made with care.
All was more than okay, no improvements needed.

The hotel had a lovely vintage charm with a beautiful interior. The staff were very friendly and helpful, giving us great recommendations for local restaurants and attractions. The location was perfect for exploring the town and the hiking trails nearby. We also enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and the free parking provided.
We did notice that some parts of the hotel looked a bit outdated and could do with some renovation. The lighting in our room was quite dim and made it difficult to read or work comfortably.
